Melchers and Innovint: Advancing Aircraft Interiors Through Strategic Collaboration

Melchers Group, a German family-owned enterprise with over 160 years of commercial heritage in Asia, continues to strengthen its aviation footprint through strategic partnerships. Since launching its Aviation Technical Services (MATS) in Singapore in 1974, Melchers has supported global aerospace firms in navigating the complexities of the Chinese and broader Asian markets.

Innovint’s product range includes baby bassinets with active safety locks and lightweight construction that is compatible with Airbus and Boeing aircrafts, series 2218 onboard wheelchair designed for accessibility and efficient cabin storage, modular first aid kit that exceed international standards and allowing for airline-specific configurations, and fire containment solutions such as PED fireproof bags and the PCP (Portable Containment Pocket), the latter being the first EASA-certified solution for unattended charging of crew devices.

A recent milestone is its collaboration with Innovint Aircraft Interior GmbH, a Hamburg-based manufacturer of cabin equipment. Innovint has officially been certified as a Qualified Supplier by COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China), marking a significant step in integrating German engineering into China’s expanding aviation sector.

Melchers China played a pivotal role in guiding Innovint through COMAC’s rigorous certification process in 2022. This included bilingual documentation, regulatory alignment, and technical representation. The successful audit secured Innovint’s position within the supply chain for China’s flagship aircraft programmes, including the C919 and ARJ21.

Beyond certification, Melchers continues to represent Innovint locally, offering tailored solutions to Chinese carriers and showcasing joint innovations at international expos such as Aircraft Interiors Expo Hamburg in 2024 and 2025.

This partnership exemplifies effective cross-border collaboration. Melchers acts not only as a distributor but as a strategic enabler—bridging regulatory frameworks and co-developing solutions that align German precision with Chinese market requirements. For Innovint, the alliance enhances its global reach and deepens its integration into Asia’s dynamic aviation landscape.
